Continence Assessments for Children (age 3+)

Flame Lily provides continence assessments for children aged 3+, including those on the autism spectrum and those with additional or complex support needs. Our CNC takes a practical, family-centred approach focusing on achievable strategies that work for home, school and community routines.

When should I be concerned about my child’s continence?

Consider an assessment if your child (3+) is experiencing:

  • ongoing daytime accidents or difficulty recognising the urge to go
  • constipation, painful bowel motions, stool withholding, or soiling
  • persistent bedwetting impacting sleep or confidence
  • toileting distress, refusal, anxiety or routine-related challenges
  • sensory sensitivities affecting toileting (common in autism)
  • recurrent UTIs, discomfort, or sudden changes in toileting habits

Important note: If there is pain, fever, blood, or a sudden significant change, seek medical advice promptly.

What parents receive

After the assessment, you’ll receive:

  • a clear continence management plan
  • practical strategies and routines (including constipation support where appropriate)
  • product/aids recommendations suited to daily life
  • guidance to share with carers/support workers (and schools where relevant)

Conditions and Support Needs We Work With

We support NDIS participants with a wide range of disabilities and complex needs. Continence concerns can be linked to physical, neurological, developmental, sensory and behavioural factors, so our CNC assessment considers the whole picture (routines, mobility, communication, environment and health history).
