Nursing Support Services (RN Oversight)

Practical RN Oversight that Supports Safer Care at Home

Flame Lily provides Nursing Support Services (RN oversight) for NDIS participants with complex needs, especially where supports are higher-risk, recently changed, or require consistent delivery across shifts. We work alongside provider teams, support coordinators, participants and families to help implement care plans safely through coaching, supervision and structured reviews.

This service is commonly used for post-hospital transitions, fresh wound routines, new equipment or care routines, high-intensity supports, and situations where teams need clear clinical guidance.

Face-to-face video consults (Teams/Zoom) are available Australia-wide. In-person RN oversight is available across select NSW areas, including Illawarra/Wollongong, Shoalhaven/Nowra, Southern Highlands, Campbelltown and the Sutherland Shire (and surrounding suburbs).

When RN Oversight is Most Valuable

RN oversight is particularly helpful when:

  • a participant has high-risk routines (e.g., PEG feeding, catheter care, suction, complex bowel care)
  • care has recently changed (post-hospital discharge, new wound, new equipment)
  • multiple staff support the participant and routines need to stay consistent
  • a provider needs clear clinical governance during audits and reviews
  • a team needs confidence and competency support to deliver routines safely

  • ADHD and executive functioning challenges impacting routines
  • Intellectual disability and developmental delay
  • Cerebral palsy and mobility-related care needs
  • Spina bifida and neurogenic bladder/bowel concerns

  • Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders
  • Stroke impacts affecting mobility/communication (where applicable)
  • Complex physical disabilities and wheelchair users
  • Communication support needs (including non-verbal participants)

Nursing Support Services (RN Oversight) FAQs

  • What are Nursing Support Services (RN oversight)?

Nursing Support Services provide ongoing Registered Nurse oversight to help support teams deliver complex supports safely. This may include coaching, supervision, post-hospital check-ins and structured reviews.

  • Who is this service for?

It’s commonly used by disability providers (SIL/in-home/community), support coordinators, and families supporting participants with complex needs, especially when routines are high-risk or have recently changed.

  • Can RN oversight be delivered via Teams/Zoom?

Yes. We provide face-to-face video consults (Teams/Zoom) Australia-wide. In-person appointments are available across select NSW areas where suitable.

  • Do you provide hands-on nursing care as well?

Where appropriate, we can provide hands-on nursing support. If direct care is required, we’ll confirm the most suitable pathway (RN oversight vs high intensity nursing care).

  • How often do reviews occur?

Review frequency depends on risk and complexity. Reviews may be weekly, fortnightly or monthly depending on needs and available funding.

  • Do you train support workers during RN oversight?

Yes. RN oversight often includes practical coaching and education aligned to the participant’s routines and care plan.

  • Can you support teams after hospital discharge?

Yes. Post-hospital transitions are a common reason for RN oversight, especially where wounds are fresh, routines are new, or equipment has recently changed.

  • Do you guarantee NDIS funding approval?

We provide thorough clinical guidance, documentation support and recommendations, but funding decisions are made through the NDIS and the participant’s plan.
